Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden
The No 1 visitor attraction in the West - visit the abbey home of the Benedictine nuns since 1920. There are a number of trails and tours that you can do - Heritage trail, nature trail, stroll through the walled garden or guided mountain hike to the statue on the mountain.
Connemara National Park
Covers 2,957 hectares of expanses of bog, heath, grassland, woodland and mountains which are all accessed at the Visitor Centre. At the park there are audio visual shows and exhibitions on the Connemara landscape, picnic tables and playground, Diamond Hill walk maps and information at the Information Centre.
Knock - Ireland's Marian Shrine
On the 21st of August 1879, Our Lady, St Joseph and St John the Evangelist appeared at the Parish Church in Knock. The apparition was witnessed by fifteen people. from this miraculous occurrence, Knock has grown to the status of an internationally recognised Shrine. Pope John Paul visited the Shrine in 1979 and Mother Teresa of Calcutta visited the Shrine in 1993.
Knock Folk Museum is located in the Knock Shrine Grounds, it shows how life has changed in rural Ireland - the thatched house, blacksmith's forge etc shows some of these changes.
